Session 4: general details

This tutorial will assist you gain a greater understanding of the Bottom Line3 software. It uses the example MyBakery, which contains sample data. The MyBakery data file is provided the software.

To open the MyBakery data file select select Open button from the main menu. From the next menu select the MB.tod data file. Once you have selected or highlighted the file, select Open to continue.

The MB.tod data file is located in the Data directory which was installed with the software. When you select Open the software will default to this directory.

Introduction

This is where you insert your company name and details, and importantly, the economic sector to which you below and hence to which your performance will be benchmarked.

General details

MyBakery file contains the basic information that will be used to identify the organisation and the industry that it belongs to. Correct selection of an industry category and sector is critical to the process as ABS data for the selected industry will be used.

You will notice the details for MyBakery have already been entered.

Organisation details  

Industry: asks you to select the ABS industry sector that your organisation belongs to. Choose a broad category from the list provided in the drop-down menu. As the owner of MyBakery you would pick the broad category ‘Food’. Once you have selected the category, the software then offers you a range of industry sectors belonging to the category ‘Food’. From the drop-down menu next to Sector, select the appropriate sector from the list. As the owner of MyBakery, you would select ‘Meat pies, cakes and biscuits’.
Note: The industry sector you pick will be the one that your organisation is benchmarked against.

Financial Year:  

Having provided your organisation's details, you are now ready to enter your organisation's expenditure and revenue details.
